Why does the breather have 6 settings on the inhale while only 5 on the exhale?

Inhalation and active exhalation utilize distinct muscles and muscle groups.

The diaphragm and the external intercostals are for example used for inhalation, whereas exhalation activates the internal intercostals and abdominal muscles. Therefore, inspiratory and expiratory muscle groups respond differently to training, with different maximum capacities which are reflected by the differences between MIP (maximum inspiratory pressure) and MEP (maximum expiratory pressure). The distinct intensity settings on the Breather for inhale and exhale were adapted for optimal training of both muscle groups.
