The Breather can be used on a patient that is on a mechanical ventilator to help with respiratory muscle weakness and to help with the process of weaning.
Two things MUST APPLY:
1. Patient has a tracheotomy and not an endotracheal tube (not recommended for ET tube). Use the trach adapter 15/22 mm adapter in our kit to replace the mouthpiece.
2. Patient must be on CPAP or PS mode on the ventilator and be able to spontaneous breathe and have passed spontaneous breathing trials
DO NOT EXTUBATE until your patient has met protocol weaning criteria per your facility. I hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any further questions.
